The
library holds, perhaps, the biggest map collection of the
country. A section keeps unique cartographical pieces of several
Jesuit missionaries that labored in the Amazon basin. Special
mention deserve Samuel Fritz, S.I and Juan Magnin, S.I. creators
of beautiful and accurate maps that describe the geography
of the current Ecuador, Peru and Brazil. Pedro Vicente Maldonado,
Pierre La Condamine and Juan de Velasco, S.I. join their names
to the large list of cartographers that enrich the collection.
